The hunt ended in tragedy in Magadan region — 66-year-old man fired a gun at another hunter, confusing him with a bear. This was reported in the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
As reported, the tragedy happened on the evening of May 10, 16 kilometers from the village of Ust-Omchug, Tenkinsky district. The man saw movement in the forest at a distance of about 250 meters. As a result, the 61-year-old hunter was injured, the doctors did not have time to help him. Death occurred while the wounded man was being transported to the hospital.
A criminal case has been initiated into the incident under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Causing death by negligence”). The shooter faces up to two years in prison.
