Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov a few days ago delighted numerous fans and for the first time after hospitalization he personally got in touch, writing down the appeal. However, the recovery process of the figure skater is still far from complete, the process may involve specialists from abroad.
«There is a lot of work ahead» Kostomarov was in intensive care on the night of January 10 with pneumonia. In early 2023, he performed at Ilya Averbukh's ice show, part of which took place outdoors in severe frosts. The athlete did not go to the doctors for some time, but the situation deteriorated sharply. Because of the developed necrosis, he underwent several amputations. Later it was reported that part of the brain was affected, hemorrhage occurred and a hematoma formed.
Since then there has been a lot of conflicting information. Someone claimed that Kostomarov was on the mend, someone, on the contrary, described the situation as critical, after which the fans were preparing for the worst scenario. However, in early May, Averbukh, who was constantly in touch with Roman's family, spoke about the positive dynamics in the skater's condition. And on May 8, Kostomarov himself, for the first time during his illness, got in touch on social networks.
“Thanks to everyone who worried about me, prayed and believed that I would get out of this difficult situation. Many difficulties are still ahead. I hope that I will cope with everything thanks to my relatives, relatives and doctors who pulled me out of this world and to this day day work. There is a lot of hard work ahead,» Kostomarov wrote.
He won’t go abroad, but foreigners will help. Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin also expressed support for the athlete, wishing Roman more strength. Despite the obvious positive, it was clear that the recovery process would be difficult and lengthy. Shortly after that, Moskovsky Komsomolets gave information that the skater was allegedly secretly discharged from the hospital, and now he is abroad. A source familiar with the situation denied this information.
«
» Kostomarov did not leave the hospital. There are no plans to go abroad, Russian doctors are able to cope on their own,” the agency’s interlocutor said. outside of Russia is not planned and not discussed. But foreign doctors can be involved in the restoration of the Olympic champion, Sport Express reported. According to the publication, foreign specialists will participate in prosthetics. At the moment, doctors are studying centers in Russia for the next stage of treatment. At the same time, while the skater is not ready for surgery, doctors will be able to proceed with the installation of prostheses only without «the slightest health risks.»
