
ROME, May 15 New Russian Ambassador to Italy Alexei Paramonov arrived in Rome and presented copies of his credentials to the Italian Foreign Ministry, the diplomatic mission said.
«On May 15, 2023, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Italian Republic Paramonov presented copies of his credentials to Bruno Antonio Pasquino, Director of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic,» the embassy said in a statement.
In early April, Russian President Vladimir Putin relieved Sergei Razov of his duties as Russian Ambassador to Italy and San Marino and appointed Aleksey Paramonov, Director of the First European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, to this position. Razov, who has been Russia's ambassador since May 2013, completed his mission in early May and left for his homeland.
Aleksey Vladimirovich Paramonov is a graduate of MGIMO and speaks Italian, French and English. Entered the diplomatic service in 1988, worked in various positions in the central office of the ministry and abroad. In 2008-2013, he served as Consul General of Russia in Milan. In September 2015, he took over as Director of the First European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Awarded with the medal of the Order «For Services to the Fatherland» II degree (2011).
