
MOSCOW, May 15. Russian airline Red Wings has requested slots for flights from Moscow to Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, the press reported carrier service.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin last Wednesday canceled the visa regime with Georgia from May 15, and also lifted the ban for Russian airlines on direct flights to the country. At the same time, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation announced that Russian airlines were preparing to resume flights to Georgia, it was planned to carry out seven direct flights from Moscow to Tbilisi and back on domestic aircraft every week.
«The airline has requested slots (Moscow-Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi). When scheduling and opening sales, Red Wings will focus on the solution Russian Ministry of Transport,» the statement said.
The company also noted that Red Wings is the designated carrier on routes to Georgia.
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili told reporters earlier on Monday that several Russian airlines had already applied for flights to all three Georgian international airports — Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi — on the first day of the end of the ban on direct flights between Russia and Georgia.
