MOSCOW, May 12. Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin, while working in open space, prepared a radiator for operation, which had previously been transferred to the Nauka module, broadcasting the exit hosted by Roskosmos.
Astronauts have been working outside the International Space Station for several hours. The exit hatch of the Poisk module was opened at 18:47 Moscow time.
After exiting the hatch, Prokopiev and Petelin went to the Nauka module, to which, during work outside the ISS on April 19, the radiation heat exchanger from the Rassvet module was transferred. The astronauts dismantled two couplers from the radiator and opened its panels. Then they filled the hydraulic circuits of the radiator with coolant and combined them with the Nauka module's thermal management system.
The cosmonauts also installed two halyards on the ERA remote manipulator.
It is planned that the duration of work in open space will be 6 hours 18 minutes.
Earlier, Prokopiev said that with the help of the lock chamber, which the cosmonauts had previously transferred from the Rassvet module to Nauka, it would be possible to place equipment for scientific experiments in outer space without leaving the ISS. A special conveyor will be extended from it, from which the equipment can be captured by the ERA manipulator and installed on the Large Object Attachment Facility (LCCS). SKKO Prokopyev and Petelin were installed at Nauka on November 17, 2022.
