The case of the extremist community against Alexei Navalny was transferred to the prosecutor's office for approval of the charges. Ivan Zhdanov, director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, announced this on his social networks.
“Obviously, the consideration itself [will begin] right in the near future,” Zhdanov added. Navalny is accused of organizations and financing of extremist activity.
At the end of April, the oppositionist, who is in IK-6 in the Vladimir region, began to get acquainted with 196 volumes of the materials of the criminal case — he was initially allocated a day for this, but later, through the court, the familiarization period was increased to 10 days.A criminal case on extremism against Navalny and his associates was opened in October last year. After being detained at the airport in January 2021, the politician was sent to a colony, replacing the suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case. Later, several more criminal cases were opened against the oppositionist. He was sentenced to nine years in a strict regime colony on cases of especially large fraudand contempt of court .
