MOSCOW, May 16 Decision to denounce the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) will be sent to the parliaments of the world today, said the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky.
Earlier on Tuesday, the State Duma adopted a law on the denunciation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe.
» Today, the decision (on the adoption of the law on the denunciation of the CFE Treaty), which will be adopted in a minute, will be sent to the parliaments of the world,» Slutsky said during the plenary session.
The CFE Treaty was signed in Paris in 1990, and in In 1999, an updated version of the treaty was signed at the OSCE summit in Istanbul. The adapted treaty was ratified by only four countries — Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. In 2007, Russia suspended its participation in the CFE Treaty «until NATO countries ratify the Agreement on Adaptation and begin to implement this document in good faith.»
