WHO urges caution when using AI chatbots

GENEVA, May 16 The World Health Organization (WHO) is urging humanity to be careful when using artificial intelligence like chatgpt to protect people's autonomy and public health, it says published statement on the website of the organization.
“WHO urges caution when using artificial intelligence (AI)-generated large language model building (LLMS) tools to protect and promote human well-being, safety, autonomy and public health,” the document says.

The organization elaborates that LLMS includes some of the fastest growing platforms such as ChatGPT, Bard, Bert and many others that mimic the understanding, processing and playback of human communication.
«It is critical that risks are carefully considered when using LLMS to improve access to health information, as a decision support tool, or even to expand diagnostic capacity in under-resourced settings to protect people's health and reduce inequalities,» — is added to the application.
The organization proposes to address these issues and evaluate the evidence of benefit before they are widely used in everyday healthcare and medicine – whether by individuals, health care providers or health system administrators and policy makers.
