MOSCOW, May 16. President of the National Association of Broadcasters Eduard Sagalaev was buried on Tuesday at the Troyekurovsky cemetery.
Eduard Sagalaev died on May 13 at the age of 77. He has served as president of NAT since 1995.
Farewell to him took place in the funeral hall, then Sagalaev was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery.
The coffin after parting in the mourning hall was carried out to applause. All the way to the burial place he was accompanied by a church choir.
Sagalaev was buried next to Vladimir Sungorkin, editor-in-chief and director general of the Komsomolskaya Pravda media group, journalists Sergei Dorenko and Vladimir Luskanov, and Svetlana Babayeva, head of the Simferopol division of the Rossiya Segodnya media group.
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the families and friends of the deceased Eduard Sagalaev. Also, words of condolence were expressed by: Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy, ex-head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein, head of the UJR Vladimir Solovyov, TV journalist Dmitry Kiselev, General Director of Channel One Konstantin Ernst, General Director of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Oleg Dobrodeev and others.
Many noted that Sagalaev «became the face of modern television», was the «soul of Russian television», and that he «managed to maintain a balance of tradition and innovation.»
