MOSCOW, May 16th. Neurologist Alexander Evdokimov expressed doubt that Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov would be able to fully recover.
After hospitalization, Kostomarov was in a medically induced coma. Later it was reported that part of his brain was affected — a hemorrhage occurred and a hematoma formed. The athlete also survived several amputations.

"Now technologies allow prosthetics to be made with the preservation of almost all the functions of nerve endings. With the brain, the situation is more complicated. Doctors have not yet learned how to restore and replace lost brain cells,” Evdokimov told Vechernaya Moskva.
Kostomarov is in a hospital in Kommunarka. He was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia. For the first time, the skater got in touch on May 8, posting an appeal to fans in which he thanked everyone for their support.
