MOSCOW, May 16 Islamic countries are not ready to sacrifice historically good relations with Russia, despite sanctions and threats from the West, Ramazan Abdulatipov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), said in an interview.
The diplomat answered the question whether the current geopolitical situation had influenced the intention of the OIC partners to cooperate with the Russian Federation, including taking part in the upcoming Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2023 forum.
«Sanctions and Western threats, of course, interfere with the full cooperation of countries and companies and are contrary to international law and international order.Moreover, these sanctions show how uncommitted the leading Western countries, led by the United States, to the ideas of a free market economy and democracy, which they talk about around the clock… Many understand this and do not sacrifice historically good relations with Russia,» Abdulatipov said.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to strengthen. Moscow noted that the West lacks the courage to acknowledge the failure of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In the Western countries themselves, opinions have been heard more than once that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
