Kommersant: the average selling price of furniture in Russia decreased by 7% in 2023
Kommersant Newspaper; referring to the experts of the Association of Furniture and Wood Processing Industries (AMDPR), reports that in the first quarter of this year, the average selling prices for furniture in the Russian Federation decreased by 7%.

According to the publication, manufacturers were able to achieve a reduction in selling prices by reducing the cost of some components. In particular, plywood became cheaper by 49% over the year, and the cost of chipboard, fiberboard and MDF boards decreased by 26-39%.
The newspaper clarified that suppliers are adjusting prices in the face of a shrinking market. In «Kommersant» explained that in the period from January to February 2023, furniture production in the country decreased by almost 10%, and amounted to 7.9 million units. As noted in the publication, this is due, among other things, to a drop in consumer activity. Data «Infoline-Analytics» show that in monetary terms, furniture sales in the Russian Federation decreased by 35% year on year.
