The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced Mikhail Krieger, an activist of the Solidarity movement, to 7 years in prison. This was reported from the courtroom by a Mediazona correspondent.
Krieger was accused of justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and inciting hatred with the threat of violence (paragraph «a» of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code). The state prosecution requested that he be sentenced to nine years in prison.
According to the prosecution, Krieger encroached on the lives of FSB officers and called for the execution of Vladimir Putin by hanging. The reason for the case, as the activist’s comrades-in-arms specified, was posts and comments on Facebook.
“I don’t hide my fierce hatred for the regime, the security officers who established it, and personally for Putin V.V. And believe me , when and if I live to see this GB nit hanged, I will fight with all my might for the right to participate in this uplifting event,” said in the comment dated 2020, published under a post about Mikhail Zhlobitsky, who staged an explosion in the Arkhangelsk FSB department, and Yevgeny Manyurov, who attacked the FSB building on Lubyanka.
In his last word, Krieger said that he really dreams of living to see «Putin's hanging «. The man also noted that the posts imputed to him are only a pretext for persecution. According to Krieger, he is being tried for his “anti-war, and now openly pro-Ukrainian position,” which he does not hide.
The activist was detained and sent to a pre-trial detention center in November last year.
