The Investigative Committee opened a case of «discrediting» the army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) against Krasnodar activist Alipat Sultanbegova after she laid flowers at the monument to the poet Taras Shevchenko. The activist published the decision to initiate proceedings on Twitter.
According to the document, on the evening of February 24, 2023, Sultanbegova came to the bust of the “Russian poet of Ukrainian origin” Taras Shevchenko in Krasnodar, “realizing the criminal nature and public danger of her actions,” laid flowers on him. She also left signs with the inscriptions “02/24/2022 – Day of Shame”, “Forgive Us Ukraine” and a sign listing Ukrainian cities.
“Nobody discredited the Russian army more than she herself and our government. I love Russia more than all those who fabricated this case against me. From the very first day I opposed the war. And I will continue to do so! NO TO WAR!” the activist wrote under the pictures of the resolution.
In a conversation with SotaVision, Sultanbegova clarified that she left Russia after receiving news of a criminal case. “After reading the letter, I had half an hour to make a decision. All the lawyers said out loud: “We must leave!”, the activist added.
It is known that after the start of the war, at least two protocols were drawn up against Sultanbegova under the administrative article on “discrediting” the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The first time this happened back in March 2022, then the security forces drew attention to her avatar with the inscription “No to war.” The second time was in April 2023 due to a story with a drawing by Masha Moskaleva.
