In the Amur region, they plan to set a new record for soybean harvest

BLAGOVESCHENSK, May 19. They plan to set a new record for soybean harvest this year in the Amur region, and an important task is the processing of 70% of the crop in the region, the government of the Amur Region reports .
Governor Vasily Orlov reported to President Vladimir Putin about the progress of the sowing campaign and the development of the agro-industrial complex of the region. The head of state held a meeting via videoconference with the leaders of large agricultural regions of the country.

During his report, the governor noted that last year in the Amur Region, farmers harvested a record harvest of soybeans and grains. This year, the sowing campaign is taking place at the optimal time, 50% ahead of last year. Agricultural producers intend to sow 1,185,000 hectares, which is 88,000 hectares or 8% more than last year. The farms are fully provided with seeds of grain crops and soybeans, machinery and fuels and lubricants, as well as mineral fertilizers. Due to the workload of the Trans-Siberian Railway, there were difficulties in the supply of fertilizers, but thanks to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the necessary substances were delivered to the region on time.

The head of the Amur region said that under favorable weather conditions in the region it is planned to increase the collection of soybeans and grain crops. They intend to collect 150,000 tons (9.6%) more of the main Amur culture — only 1,710,000 tons. They plan to increase the grain harvest by 147,000 tons (32%) — a total of 594,000 tons.
«We set ourselves the task of processing at least 70% of soybeans in the region. In this regard, the decision of the government to establish an export duty on soybeans is very important. Thanks to this, we began to build plants for deep processing of soybeans. Before the launch of these plants, it is important to export products of crop production and processing to the European part of the country. To increase the competitiveness of the Far Eastern products, the Ministry of Agriculture made decisions to compensate for the railway tariff for the export of products. We thank the Ministry of Agriculture for the timely decisions made and hope that farmers will receive subsidies for the transportation of their products on time,» Orlov said .

The Governor stressed that the region achieved such success in the agricultural sector thanks to the training and involvement of qualified personnel in the farms.

«In our region, since 2018, a ban on the use of foreign labor in agriculture has been established. This decision encourages farmers to work closely with educational institutions of all levels and invest in the improvement of villages. The correctness of this decision was seen during the pandemic — not a single hectare of land was abandoned, and all livestock and poultry enterprises worked as usual. We, in turn, provide support to both enterprises and young professionals who choose the village as their place of work,» Orlov said.
In particular, within the framework of the Far Eastern mortgage, young professionals are compensated for 10% of the down payment, a lump-sum allowance of up to 800 thousand rubles is paid, there is an additional payment to the scholarship for those who study under the dual program. Enterprises building housing for their employees will be compensated 20,000 rubles per square meter.
At the end of the Governor's report, the Head of State stressed that the Amur Region is developing in the right direction.
