Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of the Belgorod Region, has confirmed local reports of a powerful explosion near Stary Oskol. According to the official, in the village of Shatalovka, Starooskolsky district, «after a loud explosion, a funnel was discovered in the forest belt.»

He also confirmed the reports of telegram channels about the work of air defense over Belgorod on the evening of May 18. According to preliminary information, there is no damage or casualties.

Earlier on Thursday, Gladkov reported the death of two people and the severe injury of a third near Shebekino. The head of the region specified that members of one family who were planting potatoes in the garden were injured.
