MOSCOW, May 19, Svetlana Bonopartova. Russian athletes should agree only on those conditions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which are the same for all athletes, said the honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova.
Earlier, Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said that Russian athletes admitted to international competitions should not boycott tournaments.
“I believe that we should not boycott competitions. But I think we should only agree to those IOC conditions that are the same for everyone,” Tarasova said.
On March 28, the IOC Executive Committee recommended that international federations allow Russian and Belarusian athletes who did not support the CBO to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes, while proposing not to consider teams from Russia as participants in international competitions in team sports. The IOC Executive Board also recommended that athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies should not be allowed to compete.
