VLADIVOSTOK, May 19. Deputy Prime Minister, Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev announced the low activity of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East in the development of the Eastern test site.
«If the work on the Northern Sea Route with the participation of the Ministry is carried out significantly, then I do not see much activity of the Ministry for the Development of the East in the development of the Eastern Range. I understand that there are other authorized bodies there — the Ministry of Transport, Russian Railways, but this is our most important task. Without the development of transport routes, we will not be able to develop any economy with you,» Trutnev said at the final meeting of the collegium of the Russian Ministry for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
The current program for the development of the Eastern test site is calculated until 2024. Russian Railways is already implementing projects within the second stage. The set of measures is designed to ensure further growth in cargo traffic to seaports, as well as to influence the structure of cargo transportation in general, including by increasing transit container traffic. The goal of the second stage of the modernization of the Eastern polygon is to increase the annual throughput and carrying capacity of the BAM and the Trans-Siberian Railway to 180 million tons in 2024.
In 2023, Russian Railways predicts an increase in the carrying capacity of the Eastern landfill to 173 million tons and plans to transport more than 160 million tons through it. At the end of 2022, the carrying capacity of the Eastern Landfill increased to 158 million tons.
