Politician Andrei Pivovarov was transferred to strict conditions of detention (SUS) in penal colony No. 7 in Segezha. Tatyana Usmanova, an associate of the oppositionist, reports this.
She also published Pivovarov's letter on social networks. According to the politician, he is kept in a 3×4 meter cell, divided in the middle by a bar into «day» and «night» zones.
“In the daily area there is a table, a stool, a sink, a kettle, a TV, a toilet and a bedside table. TV and kettle are switched on according to the schedule. In private time and before eating, you can go (with the inspector) to the room where there is a refrigerator and things are stored,” the opposition leader said.
Until the end of April, Pivovarov was kept in PKT . In his opinion, the conditions of stay in the SUS are much better. “I have three meals and three breaks for private time, during which I can drink tea. Compared to PKT, it’s gorgeous!” he writes in a letter. Earlier, Pivovarov reported that he was deliberately “kept in an information vacuum” in the PKT.
Pivovarov was taken to IK-7 on January 24, 2023. In July 2022, a court in Krasnodar sentenced him to four years in prison in the case of carrying out the activities of Open Russia, which was recognized as an “undesirable organization” (Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code). The reason for the persecution was 30 posts of the oppositionist on Facebook.
In January 2019, the former head of the Karelian IK-7 Sergei Kossiev was sentenced to two and a half years in a penal colony, and his deputy Anatoly Luista was sentenced to three years in a penal colony, however, they were released ahead of schedule. The security forces were accused of extorting money from prisoners under the pretext of repairing the premises in IK-7. Prisoners who previously served their sentences in this colony, including oppositionist Ildar Dadin, spoke about the torture conditions in the correctional facility.
