SOCHI, May 19. Tremors were recorded in Sochi on Friday, the magnitude was 3.1, no one was injured, reported in press service of the GUMCHS of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory.
«On Friday, 05/19/2023… in Sochi, at a depth of 5 kilometers, the Obninsk seismic station registered a seismic event with a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale, an intensity of 2-3 points. There were no requests from the population. Infrastructure and life support facilities operate in normal operation,» the department said.
The day before, tremors underground were recorded in Tuapse in the Kuban.
As Elena Karpovich, head of the Sochi seismological station, told the agency earlier, the resort is a seismological place, therefore an earthquake of up to 3 points is a periodic phenomenon that occurs during the growth of the young Caucasus mountains.
