    HIROSHIMA, May 20 G7 leaders set to step up disarmament moves and non-proliferation, strive for a world without nuclear weapons, the G7 leaders said in a statement at the Hiroshima summit.
    «We are taking concrete steps to … strengthen disarmament and non-proliferation efforts towards the ultimate goal of a world without nuclear weapons,» the final statement reads.
    The G7 leaders also note the commitment to respect, effective implementation and strengthening of the Biological Weapons Convention, as well as the Chemical Weapons Convention.

    Japan takes over G7 presidency in 2023. The G-7 summit started on May 19 in Hiroshima, Japan and will last until May 21 inclusive.

    In addition to the G7 countries, India, Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Vietnam and three other countries have received an invitation to attend the Hiroshima summit: Indonesia chairing the ASEAN, Cook Islands chairing the Pacific Islands Forum, the Union chairing the African Union Comoros. In addition to these countries, the heads of seven organizations received invitations to the summit in Hiroshima: the UN, the International Energy Agency, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, the WHO and the WTO.
