WASHINGTON, May 19. The United States is imposing sanctions on Russian enterprises that, according to Washington, are allegedly engaged in the theft of Ukrainian grain, follows from a State Department document circulated on Friday.
Russian organizations are accused, among other things, of allegedly using shell companies and falsifying documents.
Evidence of such accusations is not provided in the document.
«The Department is adding (to the sanctions lists — ed.) Geos Limited Liability Company, which … is headed by Igor Vladimirovich Pozhidaev,» the document says. He is also on the sanctions list. At the same time, the SSK-PORT company headed by him also fell under the sanctions.
According to the decision, the United States is also imposing sanctions against the registered owner and operator of the PAWELL vessel. As noted, this cargo ship under the Syrian flag was allegedly used to transport Ukrainian grain.
In addition, sanctions are being imposed against Rostshipservice LLC, a Russian shipping company that operates the PAWELL vessel, the document says.
Sanctions have also been imposed against the Russian shipping company «Pawell Shipping Co», which is the registered owner of the PAWELL vessel.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to strengthen. Moscow noted that the West lacks the courage to acknowledge the failure of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In the Western countries themselves, opinions have been heard more than once that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that the policy of containment and weakening of Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
