MOSCOW, May 21. Rostelecom, the operator of the remote electronic voting system (DEG), will be ready for possible hacker attacks on a single voting day, violator model and the threat model are understandable, said the head of the company, Mikhail Oseevsky.
«We have no doubts now, the model of the intruder, the model of threats are clear to us, and we will be ready,» Oseevsky said, answering the question of how ready the Rostelecom system is for possible hacker attacks on a single voting day .
Oseevsky noted that the company is preparing for a single voting day and presidential elections in March 2024. «This work is being organized by the CEC. We are already at a high degree of finalization of both IT solutions and hardware. The hardware will already be deployed in the summer. We will conduct testing there. We, apparently, will conduct separate tests on the remote electronic voting system. This has now become such a practice. You know that we have been checking the security of the public services portal for quite a long time, and nothing was found there. Therefore, this is a good mechanism,» Oseevsky said.
According to him, measures to protect the DEG system are carried out constantly. «New threats appear, new solutions appear. Naturally, we have completely moved away from Western tools — both software and hardware — to ensure security. This is a completely Russian infrastructure. If any new threats appear, we will quickly respond,» he said.
On the Single Voting Day on September 10, 2023, direct elections of senior officials will be held in 20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as additional elections of a State Duma deputy in the Simferopol single-mandate constituency.
