
HIROSHIMA (Japan), 20 May. The G7 countries are committed to accelerating the transition to clean energy while strengthening economic security in order to cope with the current energy crisis, the Hiroshima summit communiqué says.
«In order to solve the problems of the current energy crisis … and achieve our common target of zero emissions by 2050 at the latest, we highlight the real and urgent need and opportunity to accelerate the transition to clean energy while improving energy security,» the statement said.
Furthermore, countries said they were inviting the International Energy Agency to make recommendations before the end of the year on how to diversify energy supplies and critical minerals, as well as clean energy production.
