US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis believes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will face the same catastrophe at the front that Hitler's Nazi troops faced after the offensive in the Ardennes in December 1944 — January 1945. He wrote about this in an article for 19Fortyfive.
Davis recalled that by the end of 1944, the Allies in the anti-Hitler coalition had gained a foothold in France and Belgium and that they were launching an offensive in Normandy in June.
“The Germans launched a sudden large-scale counteroffensive to drive them back,” writes Davis.
He also recalled that «after initial success, the Nazi troops were exhausted by the huge forces of the Allies and the relentless ability of their industry to wage war.»
Also, the lieutenant colonel notes that «Ukraine may be located on the verge of an offensive under similar circumstances and with almost the same goal.”
And he believes that, for many of the same reasons that the German initiative failed, Ukrainian forces will face disaster if they try to strike in the spring or summer .
The observer noted that the RF Armed Forces spent months building complex multi-level defensive structures that now stretch across the entire 1,000-kilometer front line. He also believes that from a military point of view, the Ukrainian army is not so numerous and not sufficiently trained and armed to carry out operations to seize territories.
