In Perm, the head of the legal practice of the Public Verdict Foundation, Elena Pershakova, was searched. This was reported in the telegram channel of the human rights organization.
As the Public Verdict writes, first the security forces came to the house of their friend Pershakova, with whom she spent the night, and then went to the lawyer's apartment. Investigative actions are connected with the criminal case of attempted smuggling of cultural property against the former head of the Perm «Memorial» Robert Latypov and the chairman of the «Center for Historical Memory» Alexander Chernyshov (part 3 of article 30; clause «c» of part 2 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code).
The persecution of Latypov and Chernyshov became known yesterday. According to investigators, they, “acting by prior agreement”, tried to take archival documents from Russia to Germany, which experts assessed as cultural and historical value.
The search at Pershakova's house lasted four hours; her phone, laptop, system disk and documents related to representing the interests of Memorial Perm were confiscated. The lawyer was summoned for interrogation by the FSB on May 24. In what status it is, «Public verdict» did not specify.
On the eve it became known about the searches of at least seven people, among whom were members of the HRC Svetlana Makovetskaya and Tatiana Margolina (both members of Memorial Perm), journalist Tatiana Cherepanova, lawyer Oksana Asaulenko, lawyers Sergei Trutnev and Sergei Maksimov and Memorial member Igor Averkiev.
Chernyshov is now in Moscow, on May 5 he was arrested for 15 days under a protocol on petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code).
