
CHISINAU, May 22 The Comrat Court of Appeal recognized the results on Monday election of the head of Gagauzia within Moldova, which was won by the candidate from the opposition party «Shor» Yevgenia Gutsul.

This decision was welcomed by supporters of the Shor party, who gathered at the courthouse to support Hutsul. They chanted «Victory!» and applauded the winning candidate.
According to local legislation, within a day after the court session, the CEC publishes an official decision that the elections have taken place, a notification of this is sent to the local parliament. The head of the National Assembly must convene a solemn meeting within 30 days for the oath of the head of Gagauzia.
On May 14, the second round of elections for the head of the region took place in Gagauzia, the local CEC announced the victory of Yevgenia Hutsul with 52.34% of the vote. The Central Election Commission of Moldova said that on May 13, eight cases were initiated in connection with possible illegal financing of candidates, after which Chisinau initiated checks in the Gagauz election commission. On May 16, employees of the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) came with searches to the office of the CEC of the autonomy and began to seize voter lists. On May 19, the NAC announced that the department's employees had begun checking the voter lists from Gagauzia in the presence of autonomy CEC members and lawyers. . In February 2014, a referendum was held in Gagauzia on the issue of determining the vector of Moldova's foreign policy. More than 98% of its participants supported the integration of the republic into the Customs Union.
