MOSCOW, May 18. Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the establishment of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the corresponding document was published on the portal of legal information.

«Create a federal state budgetary institution «St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences» … and place the institution under the jurisdiction of the federal state budgetary institution «Russian Academy of Sciences», — the text of the document says.
According to the document, the main goal of the work of the institution will be to participate in the conduct and development of fundamental scientific research aimed at obtaining new knowledge about the laws of development of nature, society, man and contributing to the technological, economic, social and spiritual development of St. Petersburg, Leningrad region and the whole country. In addition, the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences will provide expert scientific support for the activities of authorities in the city and region.
