PARIS, May 23. Railway workers in Paris disrupted meeting of French Minister of Transport Clement Beaune near the central metropolitan street of the Champs-Elysées, the Quartier General online edition reports on Tuesday.
Demonstrators with lighted flares disrupted the meeting of the head of the transport department, they were wearing vests of the railroad workers' trade union «Solidarity» (Solidaires), follows from the published video fragment.
«Because we have to explain: in order to develop the environment, you need to start by breaking Fret SNCF, you won't tell anyone,» a representative of a group of protesters says to the minister in the footage.
Fret SNCF is a subsidiary of the National Railway Company (SNCF), which is engaged in rail freight transport.
According to the media resource, police squads to suppress protests (BRAV-M) began to gather to the Champs Elysees.
Earlier on Tuesday, railway workers and trade unionists occupied the lobby of the European Commission's office in Paris. They entered the building of the EC representative office with lit flares, unfurled a banner «Let's impose a restart of railway freight transport», another poster read «Europe will kill 5,000 jobs».
