DONETSK, May 23. Ukrainian troops fired 19 shells of «NATO» caliber 155 millimeters at Donetsk and Yasinovataya, the representative office of the DPR in Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC).
“Fire was recorded from the side of the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine – ed.) in the direction: 13.05 – the settlement of Maksimilyanovka — the city of Donetsk (Petrovsky and Kirovsky districts): eight shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired; 13.40 – the settlement of Orlovka – the settlement of Yasinovataya: five shells of 155 mm caliber were fired; 13.55 — the settlement of Maksimilyanovka — the city of Donetsk (Kirovskiy district): six shells of 155 mm caliber were fired,» the representative office said in a statement.
The administration of Yasinovataya previously reported that a man and a woman were injured during the shelling of the city. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR reported that the service staff rescued a woman from the rubble.
Yasinovataya is located about 25 kilometers north of Donetsk and houses the largest railway station in the former USSR.
Petrovsky district of Donetsk is located on the western outskirts of the administrative center of the DPR, it is the most distant part of the city from the center. Kirovsky district — in the south-west of Donetsk, adjacent to the Petrovsky district.
Artillery of 155 mm caliber is used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Kyiv with long-range M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
