BELGOROD, May 24. A resident of the village of Kozinka in the Belgorod region, attacked by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group, Olesya Shmatko told reporters how saboteurs fired at a car with her family, despite screams that children were in the car.
“They opened fire on the car. My husband started yelling: ‘Don’t shoot, there are children in the car.’ But they continued and shot through the back door, hit me, and the front,” said Olesya, who is now in a hospital in Belgorod.

According to her, when shooting started in Kozinka, she and her family hid in the cellar, then decided to leave. In the car were a woman with her husband and two children aged one year, four months and 11 years. On the way we met a tank «with their symbols, a cross» and an armored personnel carrier. As a result of the shooting, the woman was wounded in the arm, «everything is fine with the children and the husband.»
“The children are very scared. I don’t know how to return home after this. It’s very scary,” the woman said.
On Monday, a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group entered the territory of the Graivoron district of the Belgorod region, after which the legal regime of a counter-terrorist operation was introduced in the region. On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Ukrainian nationalist formations that had invaded the Belgorod region had been defeated and more than 70 terrorists had been killed. In the evening of the same day, the CTO regime was canceled. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced the initiation of a criminal case under six articles, including a terrorist attack.

According to the authorities of the Belgorod region, as a result of the actions of Ukrainian saboteurs, one civilian was killed and 13 were injured. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Wednesday morning that nine people remain in hospitals, three of them in intensive care.
