MINSK, May 25 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that the experience of the Union State could be useful in determining the development strategy of the EAEU.
«Belarus supports the need to determine approaches to the formation of a new strategy for the development of integration until 2030, and maybe somewhere until 2045, initiated under the Russian chairmanship. At the same time, I want to emphasize that when preparing relevant strategic documents … to be interested in the experience of implementing some initiatives … — it is important for our union — at the level of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, about which the president of Kazakhstan spoke so much yesterday at the forum (Eurasian Economic Forum — ed.),» Lukashenka said, speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian expanded Economic Council.
At the same time, Lukashenka warned against excessive enthusiasm for strategic planning. “At least, this useful work should not cancel or replace the practical activities to implement the goals and objectives of the Treaty on the EAEU, which are being carried out by the member states and the commission (Eurasian Economic Commission – ed.) already now,” the Belarusian president said.
