VLADIVOSTOK, May 25. Precipitation led to a rise in the level of the Main River in Chukotka and caused flooding of the runway and road in the village Vaegi, said a representative of the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
The day before, rescuers warned that rain could lead to a rise in the water level in the Main River near the village of Vaegi to 970 centimeters, which is 20 centimeters higher than the level of the adverse event. Also, until May 31, on the Main River near Vayoga, the Anadyr River near the village of Markovo and the village of Ust-Belaya, a slight excess of the adverse event mark by 10-20 centimeters is possible.
«As of 12.00 (3.00 Moscow time) on May 25, the level of the Main River in the village of Vaegi is 931 centimeters, a decline of eight centimeters in 4 hours , with an adverse event at 950 centimeters, a dangerous one at 1065. 50% of the runway, the road to the Chukotkommunkhoz fuel depots were flooded,» the agency's interlocutor said.
According to him, there are no floods in the village of Ust-Belaya. The head office added that now it is not raining in the area.
According to the administration of the Anadyrsky district, there are two temporary accommodation centers in Vaegi, one each in the villages of Ust-Belaya and Markovo.
