American biopharmaceutical company Amgen has decided to stop supplying a drug for psoriatic arthritis. It is reported by Vademecum with reference to the director of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Scientific Research Institute of Rheumatology. V.A. Nasonova» Alexander Leela.

During the conference “Preferential drug provision for patients”, Lila said that Roszdravnadzor notified the company of the chief freelance rheumatologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia Evgeny Nasonov in January 2023 of this decision. We are talking about the Otesla drug, which has no analogues in Russia.

According to the law, the company is obliged to notify the termination of the supply of medicines one year before the actual date of commencement of the decision. Vademecum did not answer the question about the reasons and timing for the cancellation of supplies to Amgen.

The active substance Apremilast contained in Otesla is included in the list of vital and essential drugs. According to the publication, the drug is used for psoriatic arthritis, plaque psoriasis of moderate and severe severity and Behcet's disease. At the same time, Lila argues, the termination of supplies will not be a problem.
