Popova reassured Russians over bird flu cases in Russia
Variants of the avian influenza virus detected in Russia are not dangerous to humans. This was stated by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova during the X Nevsky International Ecological Congress.
«Today, the variants of the avian influenza virus that we see on the territory of the Russian Federation are not dangerous to humans,» TASS quoted her as saying. She also assured that Russian poultry products are absolutely safe for health.
At the end of May 2023, quarantine was introduced in several districts in the south of Moscow due to cases of bird flu infection.
In addition , quarantine was introduced in Kaliningrad and several suburban settlements and horticultural associations. Cases of bird flu have also been identified in several other regions of the country.
