NIZHNY NOVGOROD, May 25. Head of Mordovia Artyom Zdunov spoke about the republic's achievements in organic production at the Nevsky International Ecological Congress, the press service of the head of the region reports.
The Tenth Nevsky International Ecological Congress is taking place in St. Petersburg on May 25-26. The purpose of the congress is to promote the formation of an international system of environmental safety.

The products of Mordovian enterprises — «Biosphere» and «Children's Food Station» — are presented at the All-Russian exhibition-fair, which is held within the framework of the congress on Manezhnaya Square in St. Petersburg. Now, in terms of the number of certified producers, the republic is in the top 5 regions of the country — 6 enterprises of Mordovia are certified in the field of organic production, three more are planning to receive a certificate this year. Back in 2009, Biosfera was the first company in Russia to receive a certificate of compliance with EU organic standards. Saransk «Children's Food Station» has a certificate for 18 types of organic products, including food for schools. The head of Mordovia heads a working group on catering for schoolchildren within the framework of the State Council Commission on Education. Within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a separate session will be devoted to this topic.
Zdunov also spoke about the production of products from technical hemp. The enterprise «Mordovian hemp factories» accounts for 40% of the processing of hemp fiber in the country, there is a great potential in the direction of export. The company produces building materials, food products and cosmetics. «As for the geography of sales, these are Turkmenistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Thailand and the countries of the Persian Gulf. We also work in the Russia-Islamic world format, because a certain equal sign can be put between halal and organic products,» — Zdunov said.
The head of Mordovia called science, the introduction of fallow lands into circulation and subsidizing the costs of agricultural producers as important tools for the development of organic production. In recent years, more than 7 thousand hectares of agricultural land have been involved in organic production in the republic.
