KHABAROVSK, May 29. Camera traps for forest arsonists are being installed in the Khabarovsk Territory, their location is constantly changing, according to the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
“The new method is to install camera traps at the entry points of vehicles into forests. Such devices have already appeared in different parts of the region. This technology will make it possible to more effectively identify arsonists of dry vegetation, the perpetrators of forest fires. Because it is very difficult to catch such people by the hand,” — said in the message of the chief.
It is noted that the camera trap reacts to the movement of a passing car or person. Device locations are constantly changing. At the same time, the longitude and latitude of their location are recorded, so that later the data can be used in the investigation of fires.
“Even with an armed eye, it is difficult to see the devices, especially in motion. By obtaining data on thermal anomalies, natural fires through space monitoring, and knowing that there is a camera trap in this area, we can take records from them and analyze them. Thus, the circle of suspects is significantly narrowed up to several people who visited the forest fund during this period of time,» the message added.
It is specified that there are already several dozen such devices in the region. And there are already first results.
According to the Ministry of Forestry of the region, in the region, firefighters are extinguishing one lightning fire on the territory of 173 hectares. The outbreak arose in the Verkhnebureinsky district, 41 kilometers from the village of Tyrma. By the end of the day it will be eliminated. Since the beginning of the season, there have been 289 fires on a total area of 96,450.81 hectares.
