Erdogan promised to implement the gas hub project proposed by Putin

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that will implement the «gas hub» project proposed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

In his speech to citizens during the celebration of victory in the second round of the presidential election, Erdogan said: «In his congratulatory message, Mr. Putin again raised the issue of Turkey, especially Thrace, becoming a «gas hub». We will move forward with them. Thrace will become the hub.»

The President also promised to continue to strengthen Turkey's position by investing in transport and energy in order to reach the world level.

The second round of presidential elections took place in Turkey on Sunday, in which Erdogan won with 52% of the vote. Many world leaders have already congratulated him on his victory, including Vladimir Putin.

The presidents of the two countries instructed to consider in detail the issue of creating a gas hub in Turkey back in October last year. It is assumed that through this hub it will be possible to direct gas supplies from the damaged Nord Streams. At the same time, it is planned not only to create a trading platform in Turkey, but also to develop infrastructure and increase supplies to the southern direction, as Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said. Other countries such as Algeria, Qatar and Azerbaijan can also take part in this project, as they also supply gas to Europe through the south.
