Maria Ponomarenko, convicted in the case of military «fakes», spoke about back pain and bullying by guards

Journalist Maria Ponomarenko, sentenced to six years in prison in the case of military «fakes» (clause «e» of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), told her lawyer Dmitry Shitov about acute back pain and bullying by the colony administration. RusNews writes about this.

In mid-May, Ponomarenko was taken to colony No. 22 in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In the new colony, the journalist began to experience severe back pain. The prisoner told her lawyer that on May 22 the guards transferred her from one room to another, forcing her to carry a mattress and all her things at once.

“I couldn’t bear it myself, I sat crying. One of the employees started yelling at her [Ponomarenko] and forbade anyone to help her. She refused to call her doctor. And later she wrote a report that Masha allegedly cursed her, which was not, ”her lawyer conveys the words of Ponomarenko.

Later, doctors diagnosed the journalist with osteochondrosis and released her from morning exercises.

In addition, the lawyer said that when he entered the colony, his client's personal records were confiscated under the pretext of censorship, as well as the Criminal, Criminal Executive and Criminal Procedure Codes. And later, one of the employees shook out the letters addressed to the prisoner from the envelopes so that it was difficult to understand who wrote them.

The journalist is charged with a post in the telegram channel “No Censorship” about an airstrike on the drama theater in Mariupol. In April last year, Ponomarenko was detained in St. Petersburg, transferred to Barnaul and sent to a pre-trial detention center. Under arrest, the journalist broke the glass in the cell, because of this she was sent to a punishment cell. Later, returning to the cell, she opened her veins.

For several months, Ponomarenko was under house arrest in the apartment of her ex-husband. In January, she was again transferred to a pre-trial detention center. The journalist was sentenced on February 15 by a court in Barnaul. A month after the decision, she was taken to Biysk. In March, it became known that Ponomarenko was placed in a psychiatric hospital for three days.
