Mikhail Kopitsa, a teacher from Arkhangelsk, sent SOTA journalists photos of the chapter of a new Russian history textbook for grades 10-11, which talks about the war in Ukraine and Russia's confrontation with the «collective West».
It, in particular, reports that Ukraine during the years of the presidency of Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Zelensky was «under the complete external control of Washington» and is used by NATO countries as a «strike fist <…>, directed against Russia.
The Russian invasion of the neighboring country is called a “preventive measure”, since Ukraine in January 2022 “with Western support” allegedly began to prepare for a “full-scale military operation to seize Donbass and Crimea.” Much of the information in the chapter is devoted to «the superiority of our armed forces in the air and at sea.»
The actions of Ukraine in the war are described only from the negative side. The authors of the textbook write that the West tried to force Zelensky «to conduct military operations» to the last Ukrainian «. At the same time, the people of Russia «rallied in support of their armed forces,» and Vladimir Putin's rating exceeded 80%.
The authors of the textbook also write about the failure of «the plans for the international isolation of Russia.» In their opinion, only «the United States and its vassal countries» imposed sanctions. At the same time, the states of Africa, Latin America and the Islamic world, “where they remember well the years of Western colonial rule” and “are aware of the true nature” of the war in Ukraine, continue to trade with Russia.
At the very end of the chapter on the “special military operation”, three slogans are quoted out of context, with which, on the day of the German attack on the USSR, on June 22, 1941, Vyacheslav Molotov, chairman of the Council of People's Commissars, addressed the citizens: “Our cause is just! The enemy will be defeated! Victory will be ours!”
The authors of the textbook are State Duma deputy from United Russia Vyacheslav Nikonov and adviser to the director FSO Sergey Devyatov. The allowance will become part of the school curriculum in the new academic year.
In April, «Mediazona» got acquainted with several pages of the edited textbook on «The World Around» for the fourth grade of the «Prosveshcheniye» publishing house. In the new edition, several references to Kyiv were blacked out in paragraphs relating to the history of Kievan Rus.
