BEJING, May 30.Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with American billionaire Elon Musk in Beijing on Tuesday, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Qin Gang emphasized that China's development is an opportunity for the whole world, he said China will continue to steadily promote opening up to companies from all over the world, including Tesla.
«Healthy, stable and constructive Sino-US relations are beneficial not only to both countries, but to the whole world,» the official website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry quotes him as saying.
Elon Musk said that Tesla is opposed to disrupting the production and supply chains and is ready to continue expanding its business in China. According to the entrepreneur, the interests of the United States and China are intertwined, and «are inseparable from each other, like Siamese twins.»
At a briefing on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said that China has always welcomed business people from different countries, including Mr. Musk, to China in order to better understand the country and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
Mao Ning also noted that China is resolutely promoting the opening of its market to the outside world and positively views the investment of foreign-owned enterprises, which contribute to the economic development of China.
In China, the Musk Tesla company has a Gigafactory Shanghai — the largest in terms of production of Tesla cars. The Chinese market is the second largest market for the electric car manufacturer after the US market. Tesla also said in April that it would build a massive Megapack battery plant in Shanghai with a reported production capacity of 10,000 batteries per year.
