Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced four Crimean Tatars from 12 to 17 years in a strict regime colony in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case

The Southern District Military in Rostov-on-Don sentenced four Crimean Tatars to 12 to 17 years in a strict regime colony in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir case. It is reported by «Crimean solidarity».

Cook Jebbar Bekirov was sentenced to 17 years in a strict regime colony. Residents of Balaklava Rustem Tairov, Rustem Murasov and Zavur Abdullaev from Bakhchisarai were sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony. They will spend the first four years of their sentence in prison.

Bekirov was charged with organizing the activities of a terrorist cell (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). Tairov, Murasov and Abdullayev — to participate in it (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). In addition, all four were accused of preparing for a violent seizure of power (Article 278 of the Criminal Code with the application of Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code).

The prosecutor asked Bekirov to be sentenced to 19 years in a strict regime colony, and the rest to 15 years in a strict regime colony. In court, they spoke about the injustice of the authorities and the bias of the court.

“We are well aware that the courts, judges and prosecutors are only fulfilling the state order for the Crimean Tatars. And without them, reliable executors on the ground, the gears of Putin's terror simply spin in vain,” Zavur Abdullayev said in his last speech.

Dzhabbar Bekirov noted that the repressions against the Crimean Tatars began not after the annexation of the peninsula by Russia in 2014, but much earlier, during the time of Catherine II.

“This has been going on for more than 200 years, and it started when the Russian Empress Catherine II took it into her head to seize the Crimea for the first time. Even then, a criminal policy of violence was carried out over the Crimean Muslims. <…> That the tsarist regime in the 19th century, that the communist regime led by the tyrant Stalin in the 20th century, that the current regime in the 21st century — not a single one has bypassed us and continues its repressive policy, ”he said.

Prior to their detention in August 2021, Crimean Tatars attended courts against other defendants in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir cases in Crimea and Rostov-on-Don and took part in actions in support of their compatriots in prisons and pre-trial detention centers.
