Polish ban on the entry of Russian trucks will not affect either the availability of various categories of goods in Russia, or deliveries in general, believes Igor Karavaev, chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT).
On May 29, the Polish authorities announced the introduction of a ban for crossing the Polish border by cargo vehicles with Russian and Belarusian registration plates. The decision comes into force on June 1.
In a commentary to RIA Novosti, Karavaev noted that a very small number of Russian trucks were already passing through Poland, and then as an exception, that is, at special requests from companies from Europe.< /p>
“In the medium term, the ban will not affect either the supply of retailers or the availability of goods for the consumer,” he said.
Karavaev also indicated that in the food segment in Russian stores there are more than 90 % of goods are of Russian origin. As for non-food products, their import to Russia has long been diversified, and is carried out mainly from friendly countries, he said.
