MOSCOW, May 31.Scientists really want to find confirmation of the existence of life somewhere else in the universe, but so far there is no reliable evidence, said Nathan Eismont, a leading researcher at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
So he commented on the statements of Stanford University professor Harry Nolan, who said that people have already met aliens, but could not understand what they encountered.
According to Eismont, such statements are a kind of sublimation of the dream of earthlings who want to feel not alone in the universe.
«To say that aliens were here is, of course, very interesting «Of course, we really want this. But our desires are still not enough to make sure, to believe that they really were among us or there are traces of them. Unfortunately, it does not work,» the scientist said.
He noted that so far there is no convincing evidence of aliens visiting our planet, or at least their existence in the Universe, and this is sad.
Speaking about current research, Eismont emphasized that the task of meeting with intelligent extraterrestrial life forms is not worth it. Scientists want to find at least some confirmation of the existence of life, even microbial, somewhere outside the Earth. Europa and Ganymede or Neptune. He recalled the international SETI project to search for intelligent life, in which experts are trying to catch signals seemingly artificial. But, as checks have shown, all the signals registered so far were actually generated by natural physical processes.
