
DONETSK, May 31. Ukrainian troops fired 12 shells of «NATO» caliber 155 millimeters at Makiivka, the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues reported on the Telegram channel related to war crimes in Ukraine (JCCC).
«Fire was recorded from the side of the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine — ed.) in the direction: 14.05 — the settlement of Tonenkoye — the settlement of Makeevka (Chervonogvardeisky district): seven shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired; 14.15 — the settlement of Tonenkoye — the settlement of Makeevka (Chervonogvardeisky district ): fired five shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters,» the representative office said in a statement.
In addition, Ukrainian troops at 14.15 opened fire on Horlivka, firing five shells with a caliber of 152 mm.
Makeevka is a satellite city of Donetsk, adjacent to it from the northeast. In 2014, the population of Makeevka was about 350 thousand people. Chervonogvardeisky district is located in the western part of the city.
Artillery with a caliber of 155 millimeters is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Kyiv with long-range M777 howitzers with a caliber of 155 millimeters, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
