MOSCOW, 30 May. At the age of 87, hairstylist Luis Longeras died due to oncology, writes El Mundo.
He opened his first salon at the age of 20. He registered it in the name of his mother, because he was considered a minor. Together with his brother, he created a large-scale business — more than a hundred hairdressers around the world.
In the industry, he revolutionized — he came up with an innovative approach to creating haircuts. In 1972, he opened the first unisex salon in Europe, equalized wages between men and women. Released his own line of products.
Sometimes Longeras is called the Dali of hairdressing. He was friends with the cult artist for over 20 years, creating a giant wig for him, which is now in a room dedicated to Mae West at the Dalí Theatre-Museum.
He worked with Spain's Queen Consort Sophia of Greece, the Duchess of Alba, actress Raquel Welch and others.
Longeras was also involved in photography, painting and sculpture.
