MOSCOW, June 1 Ukrainian-based journalist Roman Popkov* supervised the preparation of a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg, where military commander Maxim Fomin died ( Vladlen Tatarsky), he was charged in absentia, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put Popkov on the wanted list*.»In the course of the investigation, it was established that journalist Roman Popkov*, who lives on the territory of Ukraine, was involved in the commission of the crime. He was put on the wanted list and charged in absentia with a crime under Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (managing the commission of a terrorist act)» , the department said. The maximum sanction is life imprisonment.
Popkov, according to investigators, corresponded with Daria Trepova (included in the register of terrorists and extremists) on social networks and gave her instructions regarding the preparation of a terrorist act.
Vladlen Tatarsky (real name — Maxim Fomin) died on April 2 at a creative evening in a cafe on Universitetskaya embankment in St. Petersburg — a bomb exploded, mounted in a figurine donated to him by Daria Trepova. The FSB reported that the second direct participant in the preparation of the terrorist act was a member of the sabotage and terrorist group, citizen of Ukraine Yuriy Denisov, who handed over an explosive device to Trepova via express delivery, disguising it as a plaster bust of a military commissar.
In addition, according to the FSB, Trepova committed terrorist attack after the calls of the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Foundation* Leonid Volkov** and Ivan Zhdanov** about the need to conduct subversive activities in Russia in order to change the constitutional order «by any available means.»
