RKN included new social networks in the register of control over compliance with Russian laws

MOSCOW, May 31. Roskomnadzor (RKN) has expanded the register of social networks to monitor compliance they meet the requirements of the laws of the Russian Federation, including new platforms Zen, Rutube and Twitch, the press service of the department reports.
«The new Zen, Rutube and Twitch sites are included in the register of social networks. On May 3, Roskomnadzor sent notices to resource owners about their inclusion in the register, indicating the requirements of Russian legislation,» the message says.

The agency recalls that since February 2021, the law on self-control of social networks has been in force. In accordance with it, Internet sites are obliged to independently identify and block prohibited information. Also, social networks are required to have a feedback form for user complaints about the placement of such content.

Previously, the following were included in the register: VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Facebook* (currently excluded from the register), Instagram* (currently excluded), Twitter, TikTok, Likee, YouTube, Telegram, LiveJournal, Pikabu and Pinterest.
Thus, as part of interaction with the administrations of social networks, materials containing child pornography, suicidal and pro-drug content have been removed or blocked: in In 2023 (as of May) — 59,670 materials, in 2022 — 98,395 materials, and in 2021 — 89,294 materials.
