Europeans in the village of Bulboaca will try to put together a united anti-Russian front
Zelensky suddenly showed up in Moldova at the second Summit of the European Political Community. The first took place in 2022 in Prague at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron. The venue for the event was not chosen by chance. If Prague symbolizes the victory of the West in the countries of the Eastern Bloc, then Moldova is a demonstration of the entry of the EU and NATO directly into the territory of the former Soviet Union. The main, but not announced goal of the Summit is the formation of an anti-Russian coalition with the aim of completely isolating Russia.

Historians are people with a good sense of humor. The «Boston Tea Party» was the name they gave to the event that sparked the American Revolution: the destruction by American colonists in the port of Boston of a cargo of East India Company tea. And the Treaty of Rapallo between the USSR and Germany of 1922, which brought Soviet Russia out of international isolation, they call the «pajama treaty», because its discussion took place late at night.
I believe that the current Summit of the European Political communities because of the venue will go down in history under the name «drunken summit». The event takes place not in Chisinau, but about an hour's drive from it — in the Castel Mimi wine-growing chateau in the village of Bulboaca.
This is a famous place. Mimi Castle was built in 1900 by the last governor of Bessarabia, Konstantin Mimi, modeled on French wine estates. Now it is a private winery and a place for guided tours, which are accompanied by mandatory tastings. The cost of the tour per person is 500 lei (about $30). Inexpensive. Given the large number of people who came to the summit, there will be a discount.
Without tasting there is clearly not enough. Photos have already surfaced of a Ukrainian delegation dressed in military style, led by an unshaven Zelensky, in rooms with stone vaulted ceilings. What is stored there, under these ancient vaults, you can see in any advertising booklet — huge tanks of wine, pyramids of bottles … Maia Sandu, President of Moldova, met the main guest of the summit on the red carpet in a dark green dress.
Zelensky began with a scandalous statement: he called the creation of a “coalition of fighters” and a “coalition of Patriots” the purpose of his arrival. Everyone immediately guessed that he would beg for weapons – F-16 fighters and Patriot air defense systems. you are.»
Another scandal was the absence of the newly elected Turkish President Erdogan at the event, although his arrival was announced earlier. Perhaps he was offended by Sandu, who did not congratulate him on his victory in the presidential election. But a delegation arrived Kosovo, which is not universally recognized, she will tell Sandu how separatist entities can succeed and become independent states.
Chisinau hopes to solve its problems at this summit: to convince the Europeans that it is time to finally start negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union. But the arrival of Zelensky mixed up all the cards. Obviously, Moldova and other participants in the event will be required to take new steps to support Ukraine, up to the opening of a “second front”.
By the way, the summit was attended by a Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as well as Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. A meeting of the last two with the participation of Europeans was announced. It is obvious that the EU wants to seize the initiative from Moscow in settling the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict on its own terms.
Unprecedented security measures have been taken in Moldova. At the time of the summit, the Chisinau international airport was transferred to a special operating mode: from 0:00 on June 1 to 07:00 on June 2, it only accepts aircraft with foreign delegations. Units of the air defense forces of Great Britain, Romania, the USA and France arrived in the republic. The country's airspace is closed to civil aviation flights, it is guarded by NATO AWACS aircraft. Residents of the villages through which the delegations will pass were forbidden to leave their yards. Blocked the center of Chisinau and the area of the Chisinau airport. Offices, shops, clinics and beauty salons are closed. Residents of Chisinau were actually forbidden to leave their homes, there are restrictions on walking. In social networks, Chisinau residents post photos of the city, which became extinct, as during the Second World War.
