MOSCOW, May 31. Megalodont tooth necklace found on Titanic, Daily Mail writes, citing other media.
The ship is at a depth of about 13 thousand feet (3962.4 meters). Last summer, submersibles spent over 200 hours there and took 700,000 images of the liner to use for 3D reconstructions. In one of the photos, they noticed the outlines characteristic of a shark's tooth.
Now the researchers want to find out whose necklace it is. The owner of the jewelry is going to be searched using artificial intelligence. He will study the footage of the passengers.
The publication notes that it is not clear why the company that conducted the study decided that this was the tooth of a megalodont. Paleontologist Michael Benton suggested that it could also belong to a modern shark.
The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912. 1517 out of 2224 people who sailed on board died.
Earlier it was reported that 8000-year-old drawings were found on the Arabian Peninsula.
